Senior Assistant Professor Shioi's research has been selected for the Takeda Science Foundation Medical Research GrantFukuoka Campus

On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Shioi Narumi, Senior Assistant Professor Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology Department of Medical Technology, Fukuoka University, was selected for a research grant from the Takeda Science Foundation for fiscal 2025 for his research project "Research into the development of fully human anti-snake venom antibodies through structural biology analysis." The foundation is an organization established with the aim of contributing to the advancement and development of science, technology, and culture in Japan, and provides grants to researchers engaged in outstanding research activities.
This research aims to establish a safe and effective treatment for snakebites, and aims to design and analyze at the molecular level, using structural biology techniques, the development of fully human antibodies to replace anti-venom serum. This unique approach, which clarifies the interaction between toxins and antibodies at the atomic structure level and achieves precise antibody optimization, bridges the gap between basic research and medical applications, and was highly praised, leading to the selection of this project.
Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology will fully support Senior Assistant Professor Shioi's future research activities and strive to further the development of his research.
